The Role

Wholesome Wave seeks an experienced manager to provide successful leadership and oversight of the partnership managers, that will activate successful completion of projects and attract a range of corporate and foundation sponsorship/grants. This work will advance our strategy and execution of movement-wide strategic initiatives deploying Produce Purchasing Power creatively and effectively through different channels in multiple markets.

The Director will be responsible for overseeing, managing, and co-creating engaging and innovating partnerships, through careful planning, oversight, and execution of project plans within the life cycle of the sponsorships so that required deliverables are met and match the funder’s criteria. This position will oversee a team of partnership managers, the deliverables and budget that is directly related to the funder/sponsorship goals. The Director of Partnership Managers will be accountable for high performance, compliance with funding/grant specifications, managing budgets and utilization of funds, reporting and tracking metrics and impact, and renewal and expansion of sponsorships.

The Director of Partnership Managers:

– Reports to the Chief Development Officer
– Responsible for the Partnership Managers and identifying needs, resources, and strengths within the department
– Responsible for oversight of the implementation of programs and actions as promised in corporate, foundation, and government proposals, and consulting with fundraisers and other development team members during proposal writing process
– Assists with the moves management process for donors and prospects, as needed
– Works with the Development Team to identify, cultivate, activate, execute, and renew relationships for specific programs and markets

Essential Functions

Primary duties include:

– Oversight and management for the team of partnership managers.
– Critically assessing and identifying needs of the partnerships management team, supporting the team, and filling necessary gaps (with executive team approval).
– Day to day management of the partnership managers; developing performance plans, department and individual goals; executing to those needs within the organization.
– Budget and Project Management for a portfolio of projects.
– Solicitation, Presentations.
– Moves Management Process oversight for Projects and Programmatic Regions.
– Program Knowledge and Ability to Develop and Execute Solutions.

Key Responsibilities: Oversee and manage partnership managers and all functions related to projects, including providing guidance for corporate sponsorship activation, programing, product development and grant/sponsorship management, renewal and expansion of partnerships and grants as necessary including but not limited to:

– Supervise and review projects to ensure adherence to organizational and departmental goals, project plans, and budgets.
– Manage partnership managers and to maintain programmatic excellence in the delivery of programs and operations
– Servicing sponsors/grantors and partners, and fulfill deliverables outlined in legal agreements and contracts.
– Review contracts with partners and sub-awardees
– Carefully managing and tracking budgets; ensuring funds are spent and reallocated as necessary in accordance with the agreement terms
– Providing oversight on the marketing and promotion of the sponsorships/partnership and project development and research
– Serving as partnership lead to cross-functional teams. Representing assigned programs on cross-functional teams and at internal and external meetings.
– Reviewing periodic and year-end reporting to funders.
– Negotiate program and partnership renewals and expansions, and necessary contracts in collaboration with Chief Development Officer, fundraising, legal, finance, marcomm and other internal and external teams and partners; obtain appropriate approvals for terms.
– Creating and maintaining your own portfolio of projects under management.
– Creating the intended outcomes and oversee/manage budgets for sponsorship programming; including management of sponsors’ marketing and promotion of the partnerships, product development and research.

Manage of Portfolio of Sponsored and Grant-funded Programming, Product Development, Implementation and Activation:

– Researching and reporting on prospective partners within program regions; researching sponsor’s and other stakeholders’ requirements and expectations to build the programmatic framework.
– Interpreting sponsorship terms and conditions; advising and partnering with community based organizations as needed to co-design deliverables, adjust to challenges, and modify programming to comply with sponsorship terms.
– Creating a partnership toolkit that outlines the partnership overview including key stakeholders and partners, deliverables, timeline, protocols and any other relevant information to set expectations and manage the partnership.
– Overseeing sponsorship project plan with superior customer service; a timely achievement of grant products and sponsor recognition in marketing/public relations collateral is necessary.
– Establishing timelines, budgets and systems for tracking and measuring success, ensuring pristine accountability at each step of the grant and sponsorship process.
– Performing all administrative and management functions related to sponsorship activation and grant/sponsorship management as necessary including but not limited to: representing sponsorship/grant at internal and external meetings, creating and activating project timelines, managing budgets, managing communications to partners and funder, as appropriate, monitoring the progress and success and/or challenges of the sponsorship/grant and flagging any concerns to cross-functional team to resolve or mitigate any barriers to success.
– Monitoring graphic standards for logo usage, promotional restrictions, and sponsor recognition program to ensure fees paid are proportionate to benefits delivered, as outlined in legal agreement. Manage and oversee final sponsor identified materials, including both promotional and program related materials.
– Providing sponsor/grantor a measurement of their return on investment as outlined in the legal agreement and as determined by WW; including analyzing outcomes by writing result reports shared with partners and funder(s).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

– Ten+ years of sponsorship, project management, sales, advertising, grants management, or marketing experience; knowledge of the fundraising grants life cycle.
– Three+ years of managing a department/team with a wide-ranging programmatic experience
– Exemplary professionalism; must meet regular deadlines and be exceptionally well organized and detailed oriented, with strong time management and business process improvement skills.
– Stellar project management skills; strong eye for detail; including a defined knowledge of a collaborative workflow process, internal and external correspondence and leading efforts to meet all project goals.
– Past success in designing and implementing programs, and providing technical assistance and developing cross-sector collaborations resulting in significant outcomes and impact with the ability to operationalize solutions, and bring concepts to reality.
– Strategic and creative thinker with a national and global perspective; ability to spot patterns, initiate best practices, and use innovative techniques to evolve and move programming forward.
– Exceptional written and oral communication skills; ability to write clearly, demonstrating a structured and articulate message; strong editing skills; good listener and able to convey ideas in an effective and timely fashion.
– Must thrive in a fast-paced environment by multi-tasking and making beneficial sponsorship connections, acting as a cross-functional team leader and strong contributor on team projects; Ability to manage multiple partnerships simultaneously.
– Proficient and comfortable networking, building relationships, and steering/navigating external relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
– Ability to work well with teams in a collaborative manner.
– Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
– Experience with Raiser’s Edge or Salesforce, MailChimp and other CRM/Database products.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
