Fort Hill Farm is seeking a reliable, energetic person to work at the Westport Farmers’ Market on Thursdays.
About Fort Hill Farm
In the fall of 2002, farmer-owner Paul Bucciaglia moved to New Milford, CT, and plowed the first four acres of what would become Fort Hill Farm. The property, a parcel leased through the Sunny Valley Preserve, a project of The Nature Conservancy, was a large hayfield of flat, well drained, stone-free, Class-I sandy loam. When Paul arrived at the farm, there was virtually no infrastructure. With the help of many apprentices, friends, professionals, and Paul’s energetic father Joe Bucciaglia, the farm has since built greenhouses, coolers, driveways, and numerous additions and upgrades to the pole barn that Sunny Valley constructed on the farm in 2005. Along the way, Paul and crew have resurrected or repaired heaps of ancient farm equipment left for dead by other farmers.
Fort Hill Farm is certified organic by Baystate Organic Certifiers. We follow the USDA rules for organic agriculture. This means that we use farming practices that promote healthy soils, reduce pests, and protect our environment. Our goal is to produce the highest quality, freshest, local, organically grown food we can for local food fans in western Connecticut.

The farm stand worker will report to the Westport Farmers’ Market. The hours are 8:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., every Thursday, from May 28 through early November. Reliability is key.
The job requires the ability to:
- work in a fast-paced environment
- lift 50 lbs.
- have a great attitude while engaging with customers and coworkers
- follow the state guidelines for COVID 19 at farmers’ markets (mask, gloves, distancing, etc.)
The work entails:
- checking out customers (Note: at this point, the market is pre-order only with no contact with customers – this could change later in the season.)
- stocking vegetables/packing orders
- setting up/taking down tents and display
Hourly rate is $15 per hour. Enthusiasm for and knowledge of food are a plus. This is a physically demanding, yet rewarding job. Be part of a fun food scene!
