KNOX is currently looking for a Public Ally to support the Environmental Education program for the current school year.
The Environmental Education Ally will help promote the work of KNOX with the community with a focus on outreach and program development of KNOX Environmental Education Program. This Ally will collaborate with partners and educators to refine and deliver KNOX’s garden-based environmental education program to over 1,000 students, including delivering lessons, creating virtual modules, and developing new systems to support program delivery. To deliver this interactive program, this person will maintain 4 school gardens and additional community garden plots. In addition to on-site supervision, the Ally will have the opportunity to work with an experienced certified teacher who supports the curriculum.
Public Allies is a social justice organization committed to changing the face and practice of leadership by recruiting and training talented young leaders, with a passion for social impact, to create meaningful change in our community. Allies typically serve for 10-months as an AmeriCorps member. They are diverse, equity-centered, innovative problem solvers, dedicated to mobilizing community assets to develop solutions to local challenges. Public Allies serve in partnership with nonprofit partners, participating in a nationally recognized, values-driven, results-led apprenticeship to advance the mission to create a just and equitable society and the diverse leadership to sustain it.
