Project Assistant
UConn Extension is seeking a part-time project assistant to help strengthen and grow an
AmeriCorps*VISTA project established in August 2013. The ideal candidate will be extremely organized and reliable, with a flexible schedule, strong teamwork skills, and ability to travel to the office in Vernon at least 3 days per week.
The CT Food Justice VISTA Project is a partner-facing project between UConn and several
community-based non-profits across the state. Each non-profit “hosts” one to two VISTA
Members to help build the capacity of that organization. Together we strive for a
multigenerational, racially and economically diverse group of leaders with the skills to movecommunities across Connecticut toward a just food system. With VISTA Member support, hostsites commit to empowering their communities to have impact on food-related programs andservices, and the food system in Connecticut as a whole.

The CT Food Justice VISTA Project is coordinated through UConn’s Department of Extension in the College of Agriculture, Health andNatural Resources.
The Project Assistant will be supervised directly by Jiff Martin, UConn Extension Associate Educator in Sustainable Food Systems, who also functions as the Project Coordinator for the CT Food Justice VISTA Project.
The Project Assistant will work alongside a VISTA Leader.
Compensation will be $25/hour for 900 hours over a full year.
Start date is anticipated by August 21, 2017.
